Angelus' Post; HUMAN SACRIFICE - TO THE FALSE GOD OF FACE-SAVING P.C.
This post is a copy of one anonymous complaint to the online compliance hotline and is being published upon special request. Of course, the response was that the issue was closed and no further investigation would be done.

We lost a dear friend and colleague last year. The cause of our loss?
I am speaking for a number of employees, who are now afraid to take any situation to their Human Resources department, as H.R. made the ultimate sacrifice. Someone chose - CHOSE - to remove Bob from Headquarters and banish him because a female employee brought bogus allegations of harassment. Pure lies, we all know. It is inconcieveable someone would stoop so low as to concoct such evil lies in order to serve some hidden agenda. Probably to save face or to placate her husband.
We watched for a number of years while Bob and Rose had a totally platonic relationship. He took her to lunch and gave her an occasional rose. How do we know this was platonic, you ask? Because it was all done right in front of our noses! We witnessed the lunches. We saw her accept the roses with a smile on her face. We saw her appreciate the creative delivery.
And the worst part of it all is that there was never any look of fear on her face. Nothing but happiness and smiles. To allege harassment is unbelieveable. She was a 50% partner in this relationship, knowing at any time if she wanted to move on, all she had to do was ask and it would be done. In fact, from what we understand, this was a verbal agreement between the two of them - that everything would be handled between the two of them. After all, they were both adults, and honoring agreements is something adults do, right? Wrong.
A little over a year ago, Rose told Robert she wanted to part ways as good friends, and he agreed, thus stopping emails to her, roses, etc....Out of respect for Rose, and general good manners, he totally - TOTALLY - complied with her wishes.
After their relationship ended, Rose went to Jay and brought about allegations of harassment.
Instead of a thorough - THOROUGH - investigation, which should have been done, or mediation which also could have been done, H.R. chose to accept Rose's accusations as gospel truth. This resulted in Bob's removal from Headquarters, and if he had to go to Headquarters, Rose got a day off - with pay. A devoted high-performing employee who has never caused an ounce of trouble does not deserve this.
Referring to the last issue: Is that not taking company money which could go into real compliance issues or employee salary, and using it to further bolster actions which were taken without due course of discovery? What would the E.E.O.C. say about this?
The company took this course of action because they knew that Bob, with that military-like respect for organization and chain of command, would lay down and roll over, not creating a stink for the company.
Unfortunately, not only was this the wrong action, because of the company's poor choice, employees feel they cannot consult H.R. for issues out of fear of losing their jobs, except maybe for payroll.
According to company policy, the employees are told to take issues to their Human Resources department who is amongst other things, dedicated to helping the employees. Hence the name, "Human Resources." For more than a year now, some morale has been at rock-bottom level with nowhere to go. How can they go to the supposed resources department after seeing this development unfairly punish such a well-respected employee? What would this department do to them? Gag them, or fire them for being troublemakers?
What would bring confidence back, you ask....
Perhaps the Human Resources department could hold, or force a quiet round-table discussion with Rose and Robert, whether Rose agrees or not, offering mediation to end this bogus allegation and have all traces of it disappear. We would like for this to happen!
Perhaps Robert needs to pick himself up off the floor, take a deep breath, and for once complain? You know, he could go higher, to the U.K., where the man is not automatically assumed to be guilty. He could have suit brought against the company. He probably has grounds for a law suit against Rose also. In fact, we think he should forget chivalry altogether and do that very thing.
He could consult an attorney. Wouldn't that be something! Poor decision by the company could mean the loss of a lot of money for the company, and if not handled in just the right manner, a massive investigation into false allegations, illegal gags and possible illegal handling of something which could have been avoided altogether if Rose had honored a mutual agreement of keeping everything personal and not involving the company.
We think nothing could be better than a fair and objective internal investigation.
This is my company also, and should do the right thing by Robert. Restoration of his status, compensation for suffering, purging of any negative files would be in order. Think about it, compliance people. We don't want to see another obituary due to human sacrifice which, by the way, went out with the Aztecs.
I will keep a copy of this report. It may be that others will also have to read it. Rose should know where the opinions lie and where the support is.
